Social Networks

Shareemailshare It’s that time of the year again when Forbes publishes their annual list of the 400 richest Americans, and the rest of us look at the billions they own, dream away for a minute or two, and then get back to reality, remembering we’ve forgotten to pay our cell phone bill.

The list isn’t really that much different from last year’s list; when it comes to IT companies on the very top, Microsoft and Google are dominating.

Bill Gates is still number one, although his wealth has shrunk by 7 billion since last year, meaning he now has a beautiful round number next to his name: 50 billion dollars. Oracle’s Larry Ellison is at number three with 27 billion, Michael Dell is enjoying his 13th place and his 14.5 billion, while Sergey Brin and Larry Page share 11th place, each with a net worth of exactly 15.3 billion dollars. Two more Microsoft guys grace the top 25: Steve Ballmer with 13.3 billion, and Paul Allen with 11.5 billion.

Looking a bit deeper down the list, at number 158 we have another very familiar face: Mark Zuckerberg, who apparently is worth 2 billion dollars. Still think there’s no money to be made in social networking?

See the entire list here, and don’t worry; there’s still time to make those billions and make the list next year.
